Drink-driving teen took friend's car without permission then crashed it into hotel gates

A teenager who took his friend’s car without permission, and then crashed it into a hotel gate while over the drink-drive limit, has been placed on a community order.

Taylor Jonathan Bradley also drove without a licence or insurance, and was in possession of 1.1gms of cocaine at the time of the incident, magistrates in Mid Wales were told.

The 19-year-old of Llwynbrain Villas, Howey, admitted taking the white Mercedes Benz on November 11 at Builth Wells and colliding with the gate of the Greyhound Hotel.

Hee also admitted having 119 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, the legal limit being 80 microgrammes, when he appeared at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates Court on Wednesday last week. Prosecuting, Ms Suzanne Cartwright said police were called to a collision at the hotel on Garth Road at 12.37am.

Daniel Davies was identified as the owner of the vehicle, but the driver had run off and was located in Llanelwedd.

Mr Davies said Bradley had been staying with him.
