Shopper is victim of £7,400 fraud after stopping to give directions to man in Shrewsbury

A shopper realised her bank card was missing and thousands of pounds had been fraudulently withdrawn after giving directions to a man in Shrewsbury.

West Mercia Police said on March 9, a woman was approached by a man with a foreign accent outside a supermarket in Battlefield Road.

He claimed to be from Telford and was looking for Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

Officers said the shopper got something from her bag to write down directions for the man.

She later realised her bank card was missing and was informed that over £7,400 had been fraudulently withdrawn from her bank account.
