The offenders broke a number of climbing roses at Shifnal Millennium Sensory Garden.

They left footprints over a number of raised flower beds and discarded empty alcohol bottles and other litter in the area.

Police said it was “a thoughtless and deplorable act of vandalism and distressing anti-social behaviour”.

The garden is funded by contributions and maintained by a group of volunteers.

It is open to everyone, but with emphasis on making it accessible to those confined to wheelchairs, those who have a vision or hearing impairment and the less mobile members of the community.

The crime was reported to police on Saturday morning.
