Residents living in Ludlow are urging town councillors to "stop the bickering" or face ruining the hard work they have put in.

Three councillors and the town clerk have all resigned this week, leaving the authority in turmoil.

Earlier this week Councillor Brian Owen resigned from the authority claiming the council had changed the way it worked, to the detriment of local residents.

He followed town clerk Paul Russell, who also quit saying Ludlow Town Council was no longer able to make any decisions because it's newly-elected councillors abandoned rules that governed it and had not put new ones in place.

Councillor Roger Ward and councillor Rosanna Taylor Smith were the third and fourth people to resign.

Now those living in the town say the situation needs sorting out quickly.

Alan Latchford, of Ludlow, said: "The town has moved forward over the last few years so it is a shame to see this happen.

"They need to put a stop to this bickering."

Mr Latchford's wife, Pam, added: "It is frightening that this is happening. We don't want a division in the council."

Kelly Griffiths, of Ludlow, said: "They have got to sort this out and start doing things for the town.

"I just don't think they do anything for the people who live here, especially the young ones.

"There is so much bickering going on about this, that and the other, I don't think much of any of them."

Paul Gallagher, of Ashton Bowdler, near Ludlow, said he was "horrified" to hear about the problems with the council.

He said: "Graeme Kidd has done a great job in making Ludlow lovely. I am horrified to think his hard work might be undone."

Ray Jones, of Ludlow, said: "I think the council needs a good shake-up. It is killing the town."
