Extra items added to Telford & Wrekin's kerbside recycling scheme
What you can recycle in your purple‑top bin is changing
Residents across Telford and Wrekin will soon be able to recycle empty food and drink cartons in their purple‑top bins as part of an expansion to the borough’s kerbside recycling service.
From April 2026, cartons such as those used for juice, milk alternatives and chopped tomatoes can be rinsed and placed directly into the purple‑top bin alongside tin cans, glass and plastics.
A spokesperson for the local authority said: “We are thrilled to announce that from April 2026, you are now able to recycle your empty food and liquid cartons in your purple top bin.
“Just rinse them out and pop them directly into the purple top bin with your other loose recycling.”
Food and drink cartons can also be recycled at recycling centres around the borough.
