Aldi has taken over the new flagship unit as part of Telford Shopping Centre's Northern Quarter.

The chain will spend the next few months training staff, creating the layout of the store and preparing for their grand opening this summer.

Aldi spokeswoman Nicola Brown said: "We have started work on our new store in Telford which we expect to open this summer.

"Once open, the new store will create up to 30 jobs. Anyone interested in finding out more can visit our website for more information.”

The new Aldi shop is part of the Northern Quarter, one of several areas of Telford Shopping Centre under development.

The Red Oak car park has been transformed to allow for new space for Aldi.

Fashion Quarter

The new entrance to the shopping centre from near Aldi is under construction and is expected to be finished soon.

Other work is going on in the new Fashion Quarter, near the old bus station, and Southwater.

A new link to Sherwood Street will make it easier for shoppers to get around the centre and create new large stores designed to meet modern fashion retailer requirements.

The new phase of the centre will open in the autumn and forms part of the same development as the bus station.

Work has nearly finished on the Travelodge in Southwater. More than 40 jobs are expected to be created when the development is complete.

The hotel and attached restaurant or bar will create 12 full time and 29 part time jobs. The work is expected to be completed in the coming months.

The plans will also see a new public green space and events area made available to visitors.
