Builth Wells Rotary Club welcomes new president for coming year
Braving the hot temperatures, Builth Wells Rotary Club met recently to formally induct the new President for the coming year.
The presentation was held at The Greyhound Hotel, where, following a carvery meal, Mr Richard Davies was handed the chain of office from the outgoing President Hugh Garner.
Mr Garner gave credit to the members who had made his year so memorable, which enabled him to carry on the service provided by previous Presidents.
Hugh had an active year of fund raising, and many presentations. Club walks, meals and stimulating evening speakers - he even enjoyed playing a Baddie on the Rotary float in Builth Wells carnival. Hugh said he was now ready to hand over this role to Richard, the new President.
Richard will continue to develop and uphold the legacy passed on to him. This will mean partaking in the many events which support the local community and charitable giving especially the Golf Charity competition, with which he is actively involved. Continuation of the monthly Quiz Nights, Rotary Youth competitions working with the local high School, Senior Citizens Christmas meal, Coffee Mornings and many more deeds of service to the public.
This was also an evening for commissioning new officers in the Rotary Club. The new Vice President is David Ronicle and the new Junior Vice President is Tom Ruoff.
This is a dynamic club and every member plays an active role, whatever their skills or background.
Builth Wells Rotary meets every Thursday evening in The Greyhound Hotel to enjoy a meal a drink and fellowship.
