Britpop legends announced as first headliners of Loopfest 2027 in Shrewsbury's Quarry
The band is the first headliner announced by the festival
A legendary rock band from Birmingham have been announced as headliners of a Shrewsbury-based music festival.
Britpop heroes Ocean Colour Scene will headline Loopfest in The Quarry on April 30, festival organisers have revealed.
The band, well-known for hits like The Day We Caught The Train, The Riverboat Song, and Hundred Mile High City, will be supported on the night by fellow Britpop icons Sleeper.

A spokesperson for the festival said on social media: “We’re absolutely delighted to announce that Ocean Colour Scene will be headlining Loopfest at The Quarry on Friday, April 30, 2027, joined by very special guests Sleeper.
“Two of the defining bands of the Britpop era, together for what promises to be a pretty special night in the heart of Shrewsbury.”
They added: “This is a massive moment for Loopfest, and we genuinely can’t wait to welcome these two incredible bands to our hometown.”

Ocean Colour Scene are the first headliners announced for next year’s festival.
The band famously supported Oasis for their historic Knebworth gigs in 1996, which drew crowds of 120,000.
The quartet of Simon Fowler, Steve Cradock, Oscar Harrison and Raymond Meade has achieved 17 UK top 40 singles and five UK top 10 albums, including one No.1.
Sleeper, who also hit their stride in the ‘90s, are well-known for having their cover of Blondie’s Atomic featured in the 1996 hit film Trainspotting.

People can sign up for early access tickets via the festival’s pre-sale page.
Festival organisers have said that fans should expect more announcements in the coming weeks and months.
A spokesperson said: “There’s plenty more to come.”
