South Shropshire man admits damaging ex-wife's car, breaking windows and abusing man in Boxing Day incident

The court heard the value of the broken windows was more than £5,000

A man has pleaded guilty to damaging two cars, including his ex-wife’s, breaking a building’s windows and being threatening or abusive towards a man, all on Boxing Day.

Adam Mort had been charged with criminal damage to a Ford EcoSport belonging to Jane Mort and a Honda CR-V belonging to Richard Underwood, both in the Craven Arms area, on December 26 last year.

Mort, 57, was also accused of damaging windows at Newcastle Hall and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a second man, James Underwood, on the same day.

He admitted three counts of criminal damage to property and one of threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour when he appeared at Telford Magistrates Court on Wednesday (July 15).

The court heard only brief details of the offences but District Judge Graham Wilkinson was told the value of the damaged windows at Newcastle Hall was more than £5,000.

The case was adjourned for sentence at the same court to August 26 so reports can be prepared.

Mort, of Lower Dyffryn Cottage, Newcastle-on-Clun, was granted conditional bail in the meantime.
