'Action will be taken': Police issue warning to Much Wenlock e-scooter riders
“We want to reassure the community that this is being taken seriously”
Police in a Shropshire town have said “appropriate action will be taken” against anti-social e-scooter riders.
Officers of the Much Wenlock Safer Neighbourhood team have said that they are aware of e-scooters being ridden in the town centre in “an anti-social manner”.
The police team has said it will be continuing to monitor the situation and take the necessary action against those individuals.
Privately-owned e-scooters are currently illegal to ride in public spaces in the United Kingdom.
In a quest to reassure the public in Much Wenlock, a police spokesperson took to social media on Monday morning (October 19).

They said: “We understand the concerns this causes for local residents, businesses and visitors.
“We want to reassure the community that this is being taken seriously.
“Officers will continue to monitor the area and where riders are identified, appropriate action will be taken in line with current legislation.”
They went on to say: “E-scooters can present significant dangers when not used responsibly.
“Riding at speed in busy pedestrian areas increases the risk of collisions, which can result in serious injuries to both riders and members of the public.
“Their quiet approach can make them difficult for pedestrians to detect and anti-social use can leave people feeling intimidated or unsafe within their community.”
Police have urged the public to report anti-social use of e-scooters by calling 101 or by going online.
