17 of the best Shropshire restaurants named by food experts - with each scooping AA rosettes
We take a look at the restaurants deemed as the best for the quality of their cooking in Shropshire by an industry standard award.
For restaurants across the region, it is one thing to be recognised by customers and by reviewers for the quality of their food, but another to receive official acknowledgement.
There are plenty of acknowledgements a restaurant can receive for quality, from positive reviews on social media and guide sites to awards given from awards that can be applied for.
However, there are awards which are given to only the best and which are industry standard and established as markers of culinary excellence.

The AA Rosette is one of the most sought awards for culinary excellence in the United Kingdom.
Introduced in 1956, it was the UK’s first nationwide scheme dedicated to assessing the quality of food served in restaurants and hotels and remains one of the most established and trusted markers of culinary excellence in the UK and Ireland.
The Rosettes are awarded purely for the quality of the cooking, with only around five per cent of restaurants achieving at least one Rosette, and are awarded following anonymous visits by AA inspectors either in standalone restaurants or as part of a hotel inspection.

The AA has said that each visit is a real-time snapshot of the experience a paying guest would receive and inspectors assess the entire dining experience from the first course through to the final dish.
A restaurant can also achieve up to five Rosettes, with one and two Rosette awards awarded at the time of inspection and solely at the discretion of the AA, while three and four Rosette awards are announced twice during the year, but never at the time of inspection.
Finally, five Rosettes are awarded just the once during a year and never at the time of inspection.
