A fire service spokeswoman said: “We were called at 8am to reports of a collision on Radbrook Road, Shotatton.

“Crews from Wellington and Shrewsbury attended and found a crash involving two heavy goods vehicles and two light goods vehicles.

“One of the HGVs was at risk of ignition and therefore crews used one hose reel jet to damp down and make the vehicle safe.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “One of our ambulances came across a multi-vehicle RTC [road traffic collision] near to the junction of Shotatton Crossroads and Wolfshead Island on the A5 at 7.54am this morning. A further ambulance and paramedic officer were also sent to the scene.

“We treated one patient, a man, for minor injuries, who was able to be discharged on the scene.”
