Driver who caused Shropshire A-road crash that left man seriously injured is warned to 'prepare for prison'
“You must get your house in order,” a judge told him
A man has admitted his dangerous driving on a Shropshire A-road caused a crash in which another man suffered serious injuries.
Julian Thomas, 39, was accused of causing serious injury to Robson Fraser by dangerous driving relating to a crash on the A49 at Church Stretton on September 26 last year.
Thomas, of Essex Road in Church Stretton, was summoned to Telford Magistrates Court on Wednesday (July 15) where he pleaded guilty to the offence - although the basis of his plea will be discussed at a further hearing before he is sentenced.
The case will next be heard at Shrewsbury Crown Court on a date still to be fixed.
Thomas was granted unconditional bail until the next hearing. District Judge Graham Wilkinson ordered that he be disqualified from driving in the interim and that reports be prepared before he is sentenced.
The judge told him: “You must cooperate with the preparation of those reports because the crown court judge will need them.
“At this stage you must prepare yourself for prison. You must get your house in order.
“I am not giving you a date for Shrewsbury Crown Court. It is essential your lawyers have your up-to-date details.”
At the time West Midlands Ambulance Service said five people had been injured in a two-car crash on the A49 at Church Stretton on the evening of September 26, including one man who was rushed to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital on blue lights.
"A man and a woman were also treated for potentially serious injuries, and two children were treated for injuries not believed to be serious, before all four were conveyed to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital,” a spokesperson for the ambulance service said.
