A 'rare and exciting opportunity': Vacant Grade II‑listed former church goes up for auction
The church was built more than 200 years ago
A vacant former church in north Shropshire will go under the hammer next month.
The former United Reform Church on Dodington in Whitchurch is due to go up for auction in September.
The large, Grade II-listed church was built around 1813 on the site of a curriers shop.

In 2024 - after it had stood empty for many years - the owners of the building secured permission to convert the historic building into eight apartments.
Now the building is going up for auction, in what agents Bond Wolfe called a “rare and exciting development opportunity”.
A spokesperson for Bond Wolfe said: “Full planning permission was granted in May 2024 for the sympathetic conversion of the property into eight residential apartments comprising a mix of one- and two-bedroom homes, with the benefit of dedicated parking.

“Extending to just under 5,200 square feet of developable accommodation, the scheme has been thoughtfully designed to retain many of the building's original architectural features, preserving its historic character while creating attractive contemporary residences.
“Occupying a highly desirable and accessible location, this sale offers developers an exceptional opportunity to deliver a distinctive residential scheme with the certainty of full planning permission already in place.”
The property, which has a guide price of £85,000, will be listed for sale by auction on September 10 starting at 8.30am.
