27 pictures Krazy Races' scorching Telford debut during heatwave

The event saw dozens of teams throw themselves down a track in handmade karts

Sun‑soaked and packed with spectators, Telford Town Park provided a scorching backdrop for the town’s first Krazy Races.

Telford Town Park burst into colour and noise on Sunday as the town hosted its first ever Krazy Races.

Thousands turned out in sweltering heat to watch dozens of teams hurtle down the soapbox track in handmade karts.

It was an impressive debut for the award‑winning touring derby which was helping to raise vital funds for the Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal.

The appeal is aiming to raise £5 million to develop a dedicated cancer treatment centre at Princess Royal Hospital in Telford, helping more people access care closer to home.

Luckily for those not in attendance at the spectacular event - award-winning photographer Ian Knight (Z70 Photography) was there to capture all of the action.
