Dating from the 1720s, Abbey House – situated next to Abbey Foregate’s junction with Horsefair and Whitehall Street – was originally built as a residence for once Sheriff of Shropshire, Thomas Jenkins.

It has subsequently been converted and adapted for its use as offices. The substantial Shrewsbury property was sold to a "local investor" in 2023 after offers of around £1.5 million were invited by surveyors, Towler Shaw Roberts.

The latest owners have now suggested that the building is "no longer viable as a commercial property" with an application to turn the property into ten "generous apartments" being submitted to Shropshire Council.

The application has been submitted by architects ArrolGreen on behalf of applicant, Mr Laith Zaza.
