Mytton & Mermaid plans new car park due to popularity of Atcham pub

The application requests permission to build a new 93 space car park.

Documents submitted with the proposal state that parking has been an issue at the venue since it was bought and reopened by Brunning and Price, due to its popularity.

The proposal is to create the car park in a field across the other side of the River Severn from the pub, with customers able to park, then walk across Atcham Footbridge to get to the venue.

The car park would be monitored by an ANPR camera and would be accessed from the B3480, with an immediate left turn into the car park.

A decision on the proposal will be taken at a later date.

Meanwhile Shropshire Council is being asked to approve plans for a successful county wedding venue.

The Hundred House Hotel at Norton has requested full planning permission and listed building consent to replace a temporary marquee at the venue with a new building.

A design and heritage statement submitted with the application details the plans for the new building - and why the business wants to build it.

It states: "In June 2021 temporary permission was granted for a marquee that sits in the rear courtyard to the south-west of the house.

"This has been an essential part of the business operation and has been instrumental in establishing wedding business.

"The marquee creates an assembly space that is functional but is also attractive and creates a further link to the beautiful, manicured gardens.

"This proposal seeks a permanent solution by replacing the marquee with a timber framed building in the same location.

"The proposal also proposes to re-use of part of former barn facing north to provide a separate entrance with a bar and some toilets for wedding guests and a link to the proposed new building."

A decision on the proposal will be taken in due course.
