Fire crews were sent to A41 Newport Road at Hinstock near Market Drayton at around midday on Monday after reports of a road traffic collision.

Upon arrival, the crew found that a car had left the road and hit a tree and the driver was still inside the vehicle.

A spokesperson for Market Drayton Fire station said:  "At 12:56pm the rescue pumps from Market Drayton and Prees, and an officer from HQ were mobilised by Fire Control to a report of a Road Traffic Collision with Persons Trapped on the A41 at Hinstock.

"A single saloon vehicle had left the carriageway and collided with a tree, the driver was still in the car, but not physically trapped.

"The crew from Market Drayton stabilised the vehicle and made it electrically safe whilst a First Response Emergency Care (FREC) trained firefighter assessed the casualty and gathered information to be passed to the ambulance service.

"Thankfully they were believed to have suffered relatively minor injuries from the impact."

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed they had been called, but the ambulance had been stood down.

They said: "We were called to a one car RTC at the Junction of Newport Road and the A41 at 12.44pm However we were stood down whilst on route as we were no longer required.”
