New challenges for La Bécasse chef Will Holland

A chef who won a Michelin star before the age of 30 and whose restaurant was named among the best in the UK will stand down from his post after the Ludlow Food Festival.

Multi-award-winning chef Will Holland, will leave La Bécasse in September. He has been the chef-patron at the restaurant for six years and has decided it is time to move on and seek a fresh opportunity to showcase his skills as one of the country's leading chefs.

He said: "I look forward to enjoying my final months cooking at La Bécasse and I wish the restaurant the very best of luck for the next chapter of its story."

The restaurant is owned by Michelin-starred restaurateur Alan Murchison, who said he wished Mr Holland well.

He said: "After ten years of committed and dedicated work for my company, Will Holland has made the difficult decision to resign from his position of chef patron of La Bécasse Restaurant and seek new challenges.

"Will has been in his current position for six years and has done an amazing job – starting up an aspirational restaurant, creating a strong brand, developing and nurturing great talent and producing innovative and exciting food using the very best of local produce.

"He has put La Bécasse firmly on the culinary map.

"He has been a huge asset to my business and his presence will be missed as a close friend and inspirational work colleague."

Mr Holland said he had benefitted from working in Ludlow at La Bécasse and was looking forward to forthcoming challenges.

He said: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank Alan Murchison for enabling me to go on an incredible journey.

"Working for Alan for ten years has been a truly inspirational experience – especially the last six years when I have had the privilege of running one of his restaurants."

Will Holland's final days at La Bécasse will be the weekend of the Ludlow Food Festival, 13 to 15 September 2013 where he will be making several appearances.

During Mr Holland's time at La Bécasse, the restaurant received numerous accolades and awards, including three AA rosettes and a coveted Michelin star.
