Horrific injuries suffered by an 87-year-old man who died after a violent burglary at his Shropshire home have been revealed to a crown court jury.
The first police officers to arrive at the home of Charles Green, of Oswestry, found him with a broken pelvis and badly bleeding at 3.42am.
A video of Mr Green, who died in hospital on June 2 last year, a month after the break-in, was shown to a jury at Stafford Crown Court yesterday.
Peter Marston, formerly of Swan Lane in Oswestry, and Danny Keeble, 26, of no fixed address, deny the manslaughter of Mr Green and assault with intent to rob on May 2. Marston also denies burglary, a charge Keeble has admitted.
The court was shown the video made by an officer who arrived at the bungalow in Ambleside Road wearing a head mounted camera.
It showed Mr Green, his head and badly bleeding ear bandaged by ambulance staff sitting in pain.
He told police he heard a noise about 3am and got out of bed to investigate.
"Someone grabbed me and threw me down," said Mr Green on the recording. "He wasn't a titch. He struck me and threatened me – he used nasty words.
"He wanted my bank card and constantly told me what he was going to do to me. He had a body lock on me, a wrestling lock."
"The other one was quiet although they did talk to each other. I couldn't see them, I was face down in the hall."
