A run-down town hall in Telford which closed in 2010 amid a storm of controversy, will reopen after a £140,000 revamp.

Dawley Town Hall shut in March 2010 after tenants Telford Stage School moved out following a row over the wording of the rental agreement with owners Telford & Wrekin Council.

The hall in New Street has since fallen into disrepair but bosses at the council have now vowed to splash out £120,000 on the ailing building. Great

Dawley Parish Council and Capgemini in Telford have already pledged £10,000 each.

Councillor Shaun Davies said the borough council's cabinet committee will meet on February 23 and is likely to approve spending the money and negotiating the terms of any new lease.
