13 pictures capture blaze that destroyed Albrighton barn and spread to field

The fire in Holyhead Road, Boningale, began just before 11.30am.

Fire crews from across the county spent Wednesday afternoon battling a barn fire in Albrighton.

The fire in Holyhead Road, Boningale, began just before 11.30am and saw 14 fire engines attend the scene.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, which released images of the incident, said the 80-metre barn was fully alight when crews arrived and had spread to an adjacent field.

The fire service said animal rescue equipment was used to protect pigs housed in a nearby barn, which were safely relocated.

Crews in breathing apparatus got the blaze under control using hose-reel jets to extinguish the blaze that had spread to the surrounding fields.
