Chunky, high-riding car blends together elements of brand’s other cars.

Omoda could be on track to broaden its range with a new X concept.

Omoda, which sits underneath the wider Chery umbrella alongside brands such as Jaecoo and Lepas, already has a number of cars on sale in the UK but could soon be adding to it if this new concept makes it into production.

There are design elements of the Omoda 4 and Omoda 7 incorporated into the X, while the arrowhead-shaped headlights have also seen use on the Omoda 5.

Inside, there’s a similarly tech-heavy approach used as has been seen on other Omoda cars, with a 10.25-inch instrument cluster being combined with a 13.2-inch central touchscreen. However, in a change, the X concept also gets a number of physical controls for various elements – something which has been absent on previous Omoda cars.

The X also has some fun features up its sleeve, with a four-microphone system capable of allowing passengers to sing in-car karaoke. An on-board night vision camera can also be used to spot hazards ahead when driving in the dark. Omoda says that it could detect something in the road up to 90 metres ahead.

With ground clerance of 200mm and a towing capacity of up to 1,600kg, the Omoda X has been designed for outdoor adventures while a 75kg roof load capacity means that a roof tent could be mounted.

While just a concept vehicle for now, there’s a good chance that it will make it into production – though whether or not it’ll reach the UK has yet to be confirmed.
