Mini celebrates British heritage with new Oxford Edition

Union Jack plays a key role in the car’s design.
Mini is paying tribute to its British heritage with a new special edition car.
Called the Oxford Edition, it’s a model that pays homage to Mini’s UK origins, as well as to its more recent offerings built here.
The first Mini was created at the brand’s site in Oxford in 1959, before it was transformed in 2001 to create the first ‘new’ Mini born out of the brand’s ownership by BMW.

Based on the three-door hatch, the new Oxford Edition gets a classic Union Jack roof – something which has featured on many classic and more modern Mini cars – while the central red and white stripe of the flag runs along the entirety of the car. Buyers will be able to choose from one of three exterior paint colours, too, with Chilli Red, Indigo Sunset Blue and Blazing Blue available.
All cars also get 18-inch two-tone wheels and ‘individually coordinated wheel hubs’ to match the exterior of the vehicle.
Inside, there’s a continuation of the Union Jack theme with a printed flag design on the 6 o’clock steering wheel area. The floormats also get a circular Union Jack on the driver’s side and redesigned door sills also celebrate 25 years of the ‘new’ Mini.

The Oxford Edition will be available in both ‘C’ and ‘S’ engine specifications, with the former getting a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and the latter a more powerful 2.0-litre unit.
There’s no word on pricing for the Mini Oxford Edition, though it’s expected that further UK details will be announced soon.
