Denza’s new Z supercar brings 0-60mph in under two seconds

Electric tri-motor car will be available in coupe and spider specifications.
Denza has launched its new Z electric supercar to sit atop its range of cars.
Denza, which is a performance-focused sub-brand of BYD, has launched the new Z at this week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. With a tri-motor powertrain, the Z brings 1,582bhp and will manage the 0-60mph sprint in under two seconds.
Plus, with ‘flash’ charging, it can be taken from 10 to 97 per cent in just nine minutes – one of the fastest charge times of any current EV.

Launching in Coupe, Spider and uprated Racing specifications, the Z Coupe and Spider are actually the smallest Denza models to arrive in Europe, following on from cars like the Bao 5 SUV. Both the Coupe and Racing benefit from a 250-litre boot, too, with rear seats that can be folded down to increase space to 550 litres. It’s expected that the Spider will get a slightly smaller boot as a result of the folding roof.
The exterior benefits from a large air intake with a front bumper which directs air to outlets on the bonnet for better downforce.

Inside, there’s a 12.8-inch infotainment system with an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel, alongside a wireless smartphone charging pad. All cars get eight-way power-adjustable front seats which have ventilation and massage functions integrated into them.
The tip-top Racing model benefits from a carbon fibre front splitter, additional underfloor aerodynamic functions and a three-position rear wing, which is also crafted from carbon fibre.
Denza’s Coupe, Spider and Racing Z models will be available to order this summer with first deliveries expected before the end of the year.
