There was a buzz in town when residents spotted film crews in the Castlefields car park, near the Mere and the Boathouse, in October 2016.

It was later revealed Lime Pictures, the production company also behind Hollyoaks and The Only Way is Essex, had chosen Ellesmere and its picturesque countryside as one of its filming locations.

The British-made programme was up against tough competition from America in the best children's show category, including Annedroids, Nat Geo Kids Block, Odd Squad and Top Chef Junior.

Nominated

It was nominated for six awards and walked away with two on the night - the other win being best directing in a children's programme.

The show tells the story of American teenager Zoe and her little sister Rosie, who move to a rural island off the UK coast for the summer with their British mother, played by former Coronation Street star Natalie Gumede.

Zoe, 15, bonds with a mysterious horse called Raven and turns out to be the only person who can tame it.

The main character Zoe is played by Jaylen Barron - an American actress known for her roles on the show Good Luck Charlie, Disney Channel and Nickelodeon’s See Dad Run, Fox’s Bones and Shake It Up also on Disney.

Olympic champion, Charlotte Dujardin, also made a cameo in the series, available on Netflix in more than 190 countries.

It became an instant hit with children and teenagers all over the world and is set to return this summer for a second season - however, it is not known whether the cast and crew will be returning to Shropshire.
