Tourism category added to Shropshire chamber business awards
A category celebrating Shropshire's finest tourism companies will make a return to a business awards later this year.
Shropshire Chamber of Commerce has reinstated the excellence in tourism prize to its annual business awards which are being held in June.
The business body said it had decided to bring back the category after a six-year hiatus to recognise organisations that delivered outstanding visitor experiences and showcased the very best of the county's tourism sector.
Kelly Riedel, the chamber's head of member success, said: "We're looking for businesses that create memorable, high-quality experiences for visitors.
"Judges will want to see innovative approaches to enhancing the visitor journey and evidence of strong feedback from customers through reviews, testimonials or repeat bookings.
"Tourism is such an important part of the Shropshire economy and this award is all about recognising those who contribute to promoting the local area, its culture and appeal as a visitor destination."
The addition brings the number of categories at this year's event up to 15 including two new awards for best place to work and sustainability.
Regular categories for business growth, manufacturing and engineering and retail, leisure and hospitality are all back again for 2026 alongside the overall company of the year award.
The deadline for entries is April 17 and the awards take place at Telford International Centre on June 19.
