Telford manufacturer's CEO to retire

John Hornby will step down from lighting and electrical specialist Luceco at the end of the year

The chief executive of a Telford manufacturer will retire later this year after leading the business for more than two decades.

John Hornby will step down from the lighting firm at the end of this year after 21 years at the helm.

Luceco, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange, is based on Stafford Park and designs and makes residential and commercial electrical products and systems such as wiring, EV chargers and lighting.

Mr Hornby will be taking a sabbatical until late August but will remain as chief executive and as a board director until December 31, following which he will be available to the group in an advisory capacity.

During his sabbatical, the group's senior leadership team, supported by the board, will carry out his functions and responsibilities.

The company said it had already commenced the process of identifying a permanent successor to Mr Hornby and would make a further announcement in due course.

Mr Hornby said: "It has been a privilege to serve as chief executive and I am enormously proud of the group's development over this period.

"With a strong platform for growth, underpinned by Luceco's competitive advantages and structural opportunities, the group is confident in the prospects for the current financial year and beyond."

Chairman Giles Brand added: "On behalf of the board, I would like to thank John for his longstanding contribution to Luceco.

"He has been an important part of its development, expanding the group significantly into the successful business it is today, with a proven platform for growth.

"The board and Luceco colleagues wish John the very best for the future."
