Telford firm building up future for centre
More than 1,000 concrete blocks made by a Shropshire manufacturer have been used to help build a new multi-million pound distribution centre for a national logistics firm.
Prologis is building its 310,000 sq ft development in Dunstable in Bedfordshire.
And construction firm Winvic called on Telford-based Elite Precast Concrete to provide its 2,400 kg Legato blocks to build a retaining wall as part of the development.
The project saw the blocks used to create a 220m long and 5m high retaining wall at the facility, providing a quicker and more space efficient solution compared to the standard gabion baskets.
Owen Batham, sales and marketing director of Halesfield-based Elite, said: "We were delighted to support Winvic and PNR with this project, and offer a suitable solution to aid the project's fast turnaround time.
"Our blocks are all stock items ensuring an instant response and a quick and hassle-free build. The Legato blocks are ideal for constructing retaining walls and incorporate their own cast-in lifting pins which mean they are extremely quick and very safe to install."
Winvic contracted PNR Construction to prepare the foundations and install blocks.
