Talks on European cash pot for Shropshire

Details of how a £98 million European funding pot could be used to help Shropshire businesses will be discussed at an event in Telford next week.

Graham Wynn, chairman of the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership, is inviting businesses to attend a breakfast event at the town centre's Park Inn on September 17.

The LEP – which incorporates Telford & Wrekin, Shropshire and Herefordshire – was told in June that its provisional allocation of funding between 2014 to 2020 will be £98 million.

Mr Wynn said: "Support for small to medium businesses is a key priority for the European Commission and the UK government. A significant part of the £98 million of funding provisionally allocated to the Marches LEP will be dedicated to business support, which acknowledges the importance of our businesses to economic growth and job creation."

Invitations to the breakfast presentation are being sent to Telford businesses on behalf of the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership and sponsors Telford & Wrekin Council.
