Shropshire rosé earns place in WineGB Golden 50

Shropshire vineyard Veenow has secured a place among the UK's top 50 wines and a gold medal for its Mary Rosé 2024

A Shropshire vineyard has won a national accolade after its rosé was named among the UK's top 50 wines.

Veenow Vineyard has become the first vineyard in Shropshire to have a rosé selected for WineGB's Golden 50 list, while its Mary Rosé 2024 has also won a gold medal at the London Wine Competition.

The WineGB Golden 50 showcases 50 of the country's leading wines, selected by a panel of independent experts.

Made from grapes grown in Shropshire, Mary Rosé 2024 was praised for its fresh strawberry and citrus aromas, red fruit flavours and lively acidity.

Veenow Vineyard owner Katie Greenow said: "We are absolutely thrilled and incredibly proud to bring these accolades home to Shropshire.

"Rob and I have poured our hearts into perfecting our rosé, knowing that our local soil and climate could produce something truly world-class.

"To be recognised not just with a gold medal, but to be named one of WineGB's Golden 50 – representing the very best of British winemaking – is a dream come true and a massive win for Shropshire viticulture."

The awards mark a significant achievement for the vineyard and highlight Shropshire's growing presence in the UK's wine industry.
