Argos store in Telford Shopping Centre to close this summer
Argos in Telford Shopping Centre will close later this year – it has been revealed.
The decision has been made by the company's new owners.
The store on New Street will shut in June, it has been confirmed today.
Argos has previously been run by Home Retail Group, but the parent group was bought out by J Sainsbury PLC in September last year.
Home Retail Group say the decision has been made by the new owners and steps will be taken to prevent job losses.
A spokeswoman for the group said: "This is a decision by the new owners of Homebase, not ourselves.
"We will be seeking to redeploy colleagues , and customers can continue to shop in other local stores or online."
There is currently another Argos shop in Telford on Colliers Way at the Bridge Retail Park. There are stores in Shrewsbury, Oswestry, Whitchurch and Market Drayton.
