Construction firm wins recognition at National Apprenticeship & Skills Awards

Latest accolade secured for Shropshire-based contractor SJ Roberts

SJ Roberts Construction has received recognition for its work to develop the next generation of construction professionals.

It was highly commended at the National Apprenticeship & Skills Awards 2026 for the West Midlands region.

The latest accolade marks the third recognition for the Marton-based company this year after it was ranked 14th nationally in the Higherin Top SME Apprenticeship Employers league table and 61st in The Sunday Times Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list.

Managing director Mike Sambrook said: “To receive further recognition for our apprenticeship programme is fantastic, particularly when it comes alongside the other accolades we've received this year.

“We've always believed in providing opportunities for young talent to develop rewarding, long-term careers in construction. Apprentices are a hugely important part of our business and we are incredibly proud of what they achieve and the contribution they make.

“Recognition like this is testament not only to their hard work and dedication but also to the commitment of our teams and training partners who support them throughout their development.”

With more than 20 years' experience supporting apprentices, SJ Roberts Construction has helped over 200 young people begin careers in the industry. The company offers apprenticeships across a wide range of disciplines, as well as supporting T-Level students and offering work experience placements.
