The 25-year-old took part in question and answer sessions and coached youngsters at four schools yesterday.

She was at Bishop's Castle Community College, Stiperstones Primary School, Mary Webb School in Pontesbury and Pontesbury Primary School.

She played all five of England's games in the recent World T20 competition in India, opening the batting with skipper Charlotte Edwards.

Beaumont hit 138 runs in the tournament and picked up the player of the match award in the group stage victory over the West Indies.

Also a wicketkeeper for Kent, it was her second visit to Shropshire as an ECB Chance to Shine ambassador after a similar trip at the start of the last campaign.

She was at Bishop's Castle and Stiperstones in the morning before switching to Mary Webb in the afternoon and then finishing off at Pontesbury.

Women and girls' cricket is strong in the county at the moment, with a record number of Shropshire teams entering the recent Lady Taverners Indoor competition.

Shropshire cricket development officer Ian Gregory was delighted that Beaumont, who has played more than 60 games for England, came to the county.

She was encouraging more school pupils to get involved with the sport. He said: "I was only there for the first morning session but, judging by that, it all went very well.

"She was coaching year eight students, had a brief with them afterwards, and then held a question and answer session with the year 11 girls.

"Of course, she has just come back from a fairly long tour in India but she was in high spirits.

"She really got involved with the demonstrations, and was having a good laugh with all of the girls."
