Charlotte Barnes, who represented Bishop's Castle for the Liberal Democrats and challenged Philip Dunne for the Ludlow parliamentary seat, has left due to personal reasons.

Ms Barnes, who became a councillor in September 2011, said: "I have a young family and I just feel they need me.

"There are lots of big issues happening in the local area and across the wider company, and it needs somebody who has the time and energy to contribute towards that."

She will remain a member of the Liberal Democrats.
