Nearly 2,000 homes and businesses hit by Telford power cut

Almost 2,000 homes and businesses in Telford were left without electricity for an hour after a power cut tonight.
Western Distribution Power said the cut, which happened at about 7.15pm was due to a fault in an underground cable. Engineers repaired the cable and restored power by 8.30pm.
A spokeswoman for the company said: "The fault affected 1,984 customers. Our apologies to all customers affected."
The power cut also set off an automatic fire alarm at a business in Haybridge Road, Hadley.
