But Darren Hodgson, who appeared by video link at Telford Magistrates' Court, told the bench: "You might as well take Wales off as I don't go there."

The 32-year-old, of Warrensway Telford, had pleaded guilty on November 19 to eight counts of shoplifting in Bridgnorth and refusing to provide a sample for a drugs test.

Mrs Kate Price, prosecuting, said a criminal behaviour order including three conditions had been agreed by Hodgson.

The conditions were to not to enter any retail premises in Bridgnorth and not to enter any Tesco, Spar or Co-Op shop in England and Wales.

The third condition was to not be in possession of alcohol in a public place without a receipt for its purchase, unless drinking in a pub.
