The most serious of the fires, which both took place this afternoon, involved a combine harvester which set alight at about 1.30pm on Bent Lane in Ditton Priors.

Two crews from Bridgnorth and Much Wenlock put out the fire using a water jet, breathing apparatus, a ladder and a thermal imaging camera by about 2.20pm.

One farm machine was 50 per cent destroyed by fire.

At about 3.25pm a car caught fire when its catalytic converter set alight near the Preston roundabout in Shrewsbury.

A fire crew was called but found the blaze out on arrival.
