Three "isolated" events at HMP Young Offenders Institution Stoke Heath near Market Drayton happened on Monday.

A prison spokesman today said the three events – which happened within a two hour period shortly after noon – were not riots and only precautionary treatment was needed.

Dirk Danino-Forsyth Ministry of Justice senior press officer said: "Staff at HMP YOI Stoke Heath swiftly dealt with three isolated and minor incidents on Monday, involving no more than four prisoners.

"There was never any risk to the safety of the wider prison and the incidents were all successfully resolved by 2pm, with the regime running as normal."
