Van driver, 73, suffers head injury in Shropshire bridge crash

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 73-year-old van driver suffered a head injury after a crash on a Shropshire bridge.

Police are investigating the crash which happened on the A49 at Onibury on Saturday afternoon.

The collision happened on the Hereford side of the level crossing at about 12.15pm and involved a silver transit van which collided with the railings of a bridge.

No other vehicles were involved.

The driver of the van was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with a head injury.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the van, and the manner in which it was being driven, before the collision occurred.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident 315S of March 12.
