Spate of burglaries in space of 24 hours

A series of house burglaries around the same area of south Shropshire are believed to have taken place in broad daylight within 24 hours.

Three burglaries were reported on Monday, all believed to have occurred during the day.

First, between 6pm on Sunday and 2.30pm on Monday, a TV 32-inch Samsung television was taken from a house in the hamlet of Birtley, near Church Stretton.

Then, a property belonging to an elderly couple situated on the Castle Hill, Marshbrook, near Church Stretton, was burgled between 9am and 1.30pm on Monday, with cash and ornaments reported stolen.

A further house near situated just north of Bishop's Castle on the A488 was burgled between 11.40am and 4pm the same day, with cash, jewellery and power tools stolen, as well as power tools including drills, nail guns and a chainsaw taken from an outbuilding at the property.

Police are making enquiries about a suspicious vehicle seen in the area at the time.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
