Woman is kicked in attempted bag snatch in Shrewsbury

A man kicked a 28-year-old woman in the leg and tried to steal her handbag in an attempted robbery in Shrewsbury.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident in Ditherington, near Shrewsbury on Tuesday.

The attempted bag snatch took place between 4.40pm and 5.15pm while the woman was walking along Greenfield Street, at the back of The Maltings, towards Wingfield Close.

She was approached by an unknown man who attempted unsuccessfully to grab the victim's handbag and kicked her in the leg.

The offender then left the area on foot towards the path around Spring Gardens and Greenfields Park.

The man has been described as a white, about 20-years-old and five foot six inches tall and of stocky build.

He had blond hair and was described as wearing a black hooded Adidas top with three white stripes along each arm, a light green T-shirt, black Adidas tracksuit bottoms with three white stripes down each leg and black shoes.

Police would like to speak to anyone who might have witnessed the incident.
