Both the Co-op on Ironbridge Road and Spar on High Street have been hit in four separate thefts since Friday.

In three cases a single male offender was reported, described as being in his late 20s to early 30s, of slim build and with light coloured hair.

Police say he has worn a parka style jacket with fur around the hood as well as a blue Adidas sports top and a high-visibility jacket.

In the fourth incident the man was accompanied by a woman of a similar age, described as very slim, with a brown or beige coat.

The couple have not been seen with a car, so it is thought they may go on foot and are from the town, say police.

They have stolen mainly fresh meat from the cold meat aisles of the two shops.
