The fire broke out in a touring caravan yards away from where workers had just finished eating their lunch.

Fire crews were called to Deserts Woodland, close to Billingsley, after the alarm was raised at about 1.45pm on Tuesday.

The touring caravan and a nearby static caravan used by workers were destroyed. The cause of the fire is being investigated, but no-one was hurt.

Crew manager Ian George, Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service crew manager for Bridgnorth, said: "Workers use the static caravan when they were working in the woods.

"They had just finished eating dinner in there when they noticed smoke coming from the touring caravan and immediately called the fire service.

Malcolm Stevenson, spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, said that both caravans had been completely destroyed by the fire.

He said: "Both caravans were parked next to each other and as yet we do not know the cause of the fire.

"No casualties were involved and no one was injured."

The Deserts Woodland site is used as a business, where logs are cut down and sold. No-one at the business was prepared to comment.
