The kidnapping was reported to have taken place in the Meadow Farm Drive and Moston Road area of Sundorne in Shrewsbury on September 6.

Witnesses had reported seeing a man punched repeatedly and then put into the boot of a car – believed to be a silver Peugeot 407, with an 04 or 54 registration plate.

Detective Inspector Mark Jones said that they had now scaled back the investigation after being unable to locate the two men involved.

He said: "We have not identified the vehicle involved or the parties – the suspect or the person who was put into the boot of the car.

"There comes a time where investigations have to be scaled back. It will always remain open, pending any further information that may come to light."

DI Jones said considerable work had been put into the attempt to locate those involved without success.

He said: "Extensive leads were followed up and a lot of police activity went into investigating this, unfortunately without a result."

Police are still keen to hear from people about the incident and anyone with information can call 101 quoting incident 767s of September 6.
