David Passmore runs the Little Pie Shop – next door to Sweeney Todd barbers.

The neighbouring shop fronts have caused quite a stir in the Shropshire town where they are based.

And now David has popped a reassuring notice in the window saying although he gets on famously with his retailing neighbour, he doesn't buy meat from him.

The Little Pie Shop on aptly named, Leg Street, Oswestry, has been opened by the retired restaurateur, who bakes his sweet and savoury delights in front of the customers.

Both he and barber Mervin Annetts noticed the irony of the shops standing side by side immediately.

"It is purely coincidence," Mr Passmore said.

Side by side, but worlds apart Sweeney Todd barbers and the Little Pie Shop

Although 75, Mr Passmore decided go go back into business after his retirement from running Jugs restaurant in Llansantffraid with wife, Janice.

"I know people say 'at your age why not put your feet up', but I am fed up with being retired."

"People can see me making the pies in the ovens that are in the shop."

Mr Annetts said many customers had commented about the pie shop opening next door. "I reassure them that they have nothing to worry about," he said.

The Little Pie Shop sells fruit and meat pies ranging from beef and stilton to the Oswestry Porky.

Meanwhile for those who may have a squeamish disposition, veggie pies such as cheese and potato and sweet chilli bean are readily available.
