Video and pictures: Road closed and roundabout blocked as lorry overturns on Telford road

[gallery] Police closed a busy Telford road today after a lorry overturned.

The incident took place on the A4640 Donnington Wood Way and the road was closed at Marshbrook Way near to Asda in Donnington Wood.

The driver of the lorry suffered injuries but managed to get out of the vehicle before paramedics arrived.

The HGV overturned near to Granville roundabout, which was blocked and expected to remain shut for hours.

Four fire engines were at the scene along with police from Newport.

Access to the nearby golf course on Redhill Way or Kenwray drive was also blocked, police said.

Vicki Jones, an office worker, said:"The lorry has gone on to its side near to the roundabout. I could see four fire engines and the military police."

The accident happened at around 9.45am and three police vehicles, four fire engines and an ambulance attended the scene.

Two recovery vehicles were on the scene at 10.20am to begin the process of clearing the lorry from the carriageway.
