Canal boat crashes into Market Drayton bridge after ropes cut

A canal boat drifted into a bridge after someone cut the rope mooring it to the bank.

Police are calling for witnesses to the incident which happened at about 11pm on Tuesday evening when someone cut the ropes at moorings in Betton Road, Market Drayton.

Police constable Mick Sturland of the town's safer neighbourhood team said: "Fortunately the only damage is to the rope used to moor the boat.

"But we have asked anyone with information to contact us on 101."

Witnesses should call 101 quoting incident number 759s of March 31.
