Cottage with caverns still looking for buyer

A cottage which comes with its own network of exposed slate caverns and pools is still looking for a new owner after six months on the market.

Coed-y-Glyn Uchaf at Glyn Ceiriog, near Chirk, is set in around 10 acres of grounds, which include the former slate mine workings.

The three-bedroom property, which is also a registered smallholding, has been for sale for £450,000 but despite interest, has so far failed to attract a buyer.

Hayley Jackson, assistant manager of Halls' Oswestry office, said: "The caverns are a magical feature of the property and make this property extremely unique.

Inside the cavern

"It would be ideal for a range of uses, including an outdoor activity centre. It is understood that the property once possessed planning permission for an outdoor activity centre to take advantage of the caverns.

"The property is still available, although we are having a lot of interest."

Pools within the cave have previously been used for scuba diving to a depth of 125ft.

The cottage also comes with a lake filled with trout, and has impressive views over the Ceiriog Valley.
