Van hits car and garage in Shrewsbury as driver has seizure

A van driver had a seizure at the wheel and crashed into a parked car in Shrewsbury today, forcing it though a garage door.

Both men escaped injury in the crash which happened at 7am and were checked over by ambulance crews at the scene..

The Ford Transit van crashed into the grey Peugeot in Chelwood Drive, just off Hubert Way.

Fire crews used specialist pulling equipment to drag the van and car back from the garage and checked for fuel leaks.

The buckled metal door was pulled down and laid on the front garden along with mangled bikes.

Fire fighters also made sure electricity and gas supplies to the house were safe.

Crew manager Glyn Hesbrook said: "The car was severely damaged and there was also damage to a fridge and some bikes inside."

Jamie Arrowsmith, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service: "Two people were assessed at the scene but there were no injuries and no one was conveyed to hospital."

Sarah-Jane Lynch, from West Mercia Police said: "We were called at 7.07am to a report of a van in collision with a car which was then shunted into the garage.

"Ambulance and fire crews attended. No arrests have been made."
